THE ASIA BISCUIT CHALLENGE

With all the wonderful food here in Asia, there is one thing I have missed more than ever and I have not seen one or heard of one here in Asia. The good old biscuit just seems to be missing here in the exotic Asian landscape and I have had several of my friends ask me what it is and how it tastes. I think the biggest place I have missed seeing one is at Mc Donald's of all places. Here in Asia you can go to McD's and get a wonderful breakfast that is affordable and yummy but unlike the McD's in the US and other western areas, you can't get a good old Sausage, Egg and Cheese breakfast BISCUIT here in Asian McDonalds (See above picture). When friends ask me what a biscuit looks like I usually say it looks like a scone but flakier and softer and not at all sweet. Unless you have had a good biscuit you really can't describe what they are like. One evening while hanging out with friends one of my best buddies was asking me about how to make a biscuit and what the ingredients were, so I went online and got a recipe for her but I still have yet to see one of these illusive delicacies. Served in half with butter and jelly on them or cut in two with tantalizing sausage gravy poured over them, these delicious treats are worthy of the Asian pallet and I hope to see them appear somewhere in the local cuisine. So my challenge is put out there for my Asian food lovers. Either make your own yummy biscuits or if anyone out there living here in Kuala Lumpur and knows where I can get a good biscuit please let me know. :)

IF YOUR GOING TO GET STRANDED HONG KONG IS AS GOOD A PLACE AS ANY

Here I sit at my garden door at my condo here in Malaysia. Oh how nice it is to be home. On my long flight home, I was blessed to have things work out the way they did. I was supposed to fly from Chicago to Hong Kong and then catch a flight to Singapore and have a six hour lay over to eventually catch my last flight to KL. Well upon arriving in Hong Kong I found that my Singapore flight had been cancelled. This ended up making United Airlines put me up in the Hong Kong Marriott hotel and then fly me directly to KL the next day. It was a great end to a rather long trip. I was able to get some sleep and shower and freshen up so my last flight home was more relaxing and enjoyable. A great end to a wonderful visit in the US is you would like to see some pictures of my visit you can check them out on facebook. Overall a wonderful time was had by all and it was long over due. I will most certainly not wait another ten years to make it home again.

TOO LITTLE TIME TOO MANY PEOPLE TO SEE.

Well here I am with my cousin Paul Houston. We were the craziest kids growing up and had more fun than should be legal for a couple of silly kids. I have been in Texas for two weeks and have seen many wonderful friends and family members and have had a wonderful time, but all good things have to come to an end. Tomorrow morning I am catching a flight and heading home. I am happy on one hand but will miss my fam and friends very much. I just can't wait another ten years to come back and that's all there is to it.

BLASTS FROM THE PAST

Well I am here in Burnet spending the weekend with my dear old pal and former clown partner Charles (Corky) Fales and he presented me with a veritable treasure trove of wonderful memories this morning. He had this old briefcase I had left behind when I moved away many years ago and he had not opened it in many years knowing it was full of my stuff. Well I opened it today and it is full of pictures and memories of the past. Pictures of old college chums and friends from school and even pictures of my long since deceased sister whom I had no pictures of with me in Asia.
This is a treasure I could have never imagined I would run into again. I have moved so many times in my life and lived in so many places I never would have guess I would ever find such things.
Thanks for keeping this stuff for me for so long Corky. :) you're the best.

DEER AT MY DAD'S PLACE IN BURNET

Check out this clip... it was 6am on my first morning at my dads place in Burnet Texas and the deer were out in force.

LOVIN' ME SOME TEXAS COOKING.

Oh my gosh.... I am here in Texas and finally I am able to eat some of the yummy delicacies I have not had in over ten years. My first night here after getting off the plane, my dear old dad took me out for some authentic Mexican food. Then... the next day I had some good old Texas BBQ YEEEEE HAWWWW! That was great but it paled in comparison to what my dear friends David and Abby had me over to their house for.... guess what..... you guessed it.... BISCUITS AND GRAVY.... and some good ole GRITS. You may think i'm crazy, but GRITS are some of the comfort food I grew up with and have craved like crazy and Abby's grits top them all. Well I'm off to Brownwood tonight where I am hoping to get some all you can eat fried catfish while I get to visit one of my oldest and dearest friends Corky and next weekend when I go to San Antonio I don't know what I'll eat, but I am looking so forward to seeing my aunt and cousins and nephews and other various and sundry family members that the food just won't matter. Wow, this trip is so awesome and I am getting to see so many people I am just so excited to be here. :) I do look forward to getting back to Malaysia but this visit will have made my year once i'm home.

More later :)

HANGING OUT IN SINGAPORE

Well i just got to Singapore and i'm waiting here for my early morning flight to Chicago where I catch my connecting flight to Austin Texas. I get to my dad's place Monday at 6pm local Burnet time. I am excited about seeing all my friends I have not seen in more than ten years. :) I will miss my new friends and family here in Aisa, especially my partner whom I hate to be away from, but oh well i'll be back in a couple of weeks.

I am excited because I finally finished 15 illustrations i was coloring for a new book I am putting out. It's going to be out before my other Pirate book and my new zombie book. :) I have been a busy beaver. This one is called Tweeker the Time Traveler and it's a story I actually wrote when I was about 19 years old. It's been finished and waiting to be published for this long but I lost my illustrations I had drawn until recently when I stumbled upon them in some long lost stuff I was rummaging through. So I took the sketches and colored them in photo shop and finished them just in time for my trip to Texas. :) YEE HAW.

look out for this fun kids fantasy adventure book that will be available on Amazon.com soon. If all goes well by the end of the year I'll have three new books out. :) I'm excited.
